Obituary for Donna Dewar

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our loving mother, wife, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Donna Dewar. Donna passed away peacefully, at her home, on Monday, February 3, 2014 at the age of 62 years. Donna was born September 16th 1951 at the family farm and grew up in Maxville, Ontario. Donna was a cat-lover; even at a very young age, she nurtured the barn cats on the farm and continue her love of cats until her dying day. In 1971, Donna graduated Nursing School from Ottawa Civic at the young age of 20. She started her career in nursing in Ottawa before moving to Regina where she continued to practice while caring for her young family. After a lengthily career, Donna retired from nursing in Calgary and was recognized with long-service award in 2001. Donna enjoyed quilting, knitting, and spending hours in her garden; flowers were her favourites. She adored Sweet Peas and Daisies but her most treasured and sentimental flowers were the Roses. She transported rosebuds from her mother, Rhoda’s garden in Maxville all the way to Calgary – don’t ask us how she made those roses thrive in Alberta…Donna certainly had a green thumb! Donna was always happy and willing to help others; putting herself and her needs last. Donna loved spending time with her family and treasuring her grandchildren. Mom, you will be greatly missed. Words cannot describe the loss we are all feeling but the life lessons you taught us, the memories we’ve made with you through the years ensures that you will live on, within each of us, forever. We love you, we miss you, god speed. Donna is survived by her husband Richard Yuck, son Jeremy (Miranda), and daughter Courtney (Rob), and grandchildren Alysia, Noah and Daylee. Donna is also survived by her sister Joan (Stuart), her brother Robert “Mack” (Monique) and her sister-in-law Jean, mother-in-law Jean, brother and sister-in-laws Terry (Helen), Beth (Andy), Darlene (Brian) Cathy (Scott) Karen (Brian). Donna was a loving Aunt to Lori, Sarah, Cindy, Angela, Jonathon, Jeffery, Stephanie, Jason, Donald, Christopher, Dan, Clayton, Stacey, Brendon, Kyle, Jessica, Marcus and Meagan. Donna was predeceased by her loving parents, Donald and Rhoda Dewar along with her older brother James “Jimmy” (Jean). Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel of the Munro & Morris Funeral Homes Ltd., 20 Main St. Maxville (613-527-2898) on Friday, February 14, 2014 at 2pm. Spring Interment Maxville Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy Memorial Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family. As a Memorial to Donna a tree will be planted in Memory Woods. A tree grows-memories live.
